The Uros Balsa boat has nothing whatever to do with balsa wood, although both are named after the Spanish for "raft" (suggesting, possibly, that it's not the original name for the Uros boat).

Irrelevant fact: Balsa wood is officially a "hard" wood (apparently the committee (what else could it be?) which defined hard woods decided to ignore the property of actually being hard).
