Non-traditional wood sheet seems to provide structural integrity, with reed matting wrapped around.

Titicaca supports 14 native fish, of which 5 are used for eating, along with the recent (manually introduced) kingfish. Kingfish are driving out the previously thriving trout, which are the most recent natural arrival.
